What We Do

About Lunaria Gardens

Lunaria Gardens is the brainchild of Kristen Jas Vietty, a grower-forager-designer based in Philadelphia. Our specialty, human-scale practices are informed by a background in visual art, micro-farming, and permaculture. We celebrate biological diversity and do not use any pesticides, GMOs, or synthetic materials in our work.

Cut Flower Farm

We grow a diverse array of premium florals in West Philadelphia. Our cut flowers are available by subscription, pre-order, or at select retail locations. We also happily supply professional florists and designers with wholesale or custom grown product. To inquire about stocking or purchasing our wholesale florals, drop us a line, or sign up for our wholesale floral availability email updates.

Foraging + Gleaning

Foraging is the ancient way we connect our humanity with our local landscapes. Our unique palette of offerings is expanded thanks to our harvesting partnerships with area landowners and organizations. We work with Philadelphia Orchard Project to convert their fruit tree and shrub prunings, which would otherwise be wasted, into gorgeous flowering branches available February through April. And at Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, we remove and utilize invasive species, like nettles, Eleagnus, bittersweet, and porcelain berry. We are always interested in more foraging and gleaning connections, and can sometimes offer monetary or other compensation. Have enough spring bulbs, lilacs, or peonies to share? Drop us a line.

We provide premium bouquets, arrangements, and wreaths, available a la carte or by subscription. For those who appreciate seasonal, locally farmed and foraged botanicals, we offer design services for weddings, events, and editorial photoshoots. We avoid the use of non-renewable floral foam, and instead design using more natural techniques.

Plant Nursery

A curated selection of edibles, natives, ornamentals, and houseplants are grown in West Philly. Our plants are available to purchase by customized assortments, pre-order, or at select retail locations. We also offer plant rental services for events, photoshoots, and the like. We may be able to accommodate wholesale inquiries and custom grow requests. If we don’t currently have something in stock, we can usually find it, so get in touch if you’re looking for something weird.

Educational Events

In addition to our private DIY design parties and public educational events, we’re open to discussing custom workshops and pop-ups.  Email to discuss.
